First: Did you get some kind of "invite"? It may not be one that screamed invitation. You had to click or do something moronic to be able to get on your phone at all. I think that's how they get you to accept their terms, and it activates.
Secretive and unwanted invites. I'm trying to find out as much as I can. If you get anything dangerous or physically weird, I'd report it to the police. Otherwise, let me know if you see or hear of anything strange. With the app or the Retrospec building.
